QR codes are everywhere — restaurant menus, business cards, conference name tags, event posters. But almost every tool that generates them treats them the same way: a black-and-white square that links to something.

We thought: what if a QR code could carry cultural identity as well as information? What if scanning a code at a Ghanaian entrepreneur's booth opened their website with a corner pattern drawn from the Adinkra symbol for wisdom? What if a Buddhist retreat's WiFi QR used an endless knot? What if a Māori artist's contact card had a koru spiral in every corner?

That's what QR Forge is built for.

What Makes It Different

🎨
Cultural Finder Patterns
The three corner squares of every QR code can be drawn as Adinkra symbols, a yin-yang, an ankh, a Celtic triquetra, a Māori koru spiral, or a Norse vegvísir — each with its meaning preserved.
🌍
Themed Presets
One-tap themes that combine colors, patterns, and finder symbols into a coherent cultural identity — from Kente Gold and Ashanti to Egyptian, Norse, Buddhist, and Celtic.
🔒
Runs Entirely in Your Browser
No server, no account, no upload. Your data never leaves your device. QR codes are generated on-canvas in real time using the Web Canvas API.
📇
Print-Ready Contact Cards
Contact Card type generates a print-ready 3.5 × 2 inch business card with your QR code embedded — ready to hand out at a conference or event.
📶
10 Content Types
Website, Plain Text, Phone Call, Social Profile, App Store, WiFi Login, Contact Card, Email, SMS, and Location — each with its own tailored form.
🌓
Day · Night · Ambient Modes
Switch between three UI modes to suit your environment and preference. State is saved locally so you come back exactly where you left off.

The Symbols

Every QR code has three finder patterns — the square markers in three corners that help scanners orient the code. In QR Forge, these aren't just squares. They're drawn as culturally meaningful symbols from traditions around the world.

🇬🇭 Adinkra Symbols — Ghana

Adinkra symbols originate with the Akan people of Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. Each symbol encodes a concept, a proverb, or a value — stamped onto cloth for ceremonies and worn as visual philosophy.

Built for Real Use

At Conferences and Events

Generate a Contact Card QR code, drop it into the business card preview, and print 50 cards before your keynote. Scan to save — no paper form, no typo-ridden business cards, no lost contacts.

For Restaurants and Hospitality

WiFi QR with the restaurant's Kente-themed branding. Scan to join the network — no asking staff for the password, no writing it on a chalkboard.

For Artists and Creatives

Social Profile QR linking to your Instagram or portfolio — with a finder pattern drawn from an Adinkra symbol that speaks to your work's values. On a poster, a flyer, a sticker.

For Developers and Teams

Website QR with UTM parameters already baked in — track exactly how many people scanned your print campaign versus your digital assets. Download as SVG for infinite-resolution printing.

Download formats

PNG · SVG · JPEG · WebP — from 512px previews to 4096px print-ready exports. SVG scales to any size with zero quality loss.

Open Source, Always Free

QR Forge is a single HTML file. No framework, no build step, no backend. Fork it, self-host it, modify it, embed it. The entire codebase — QR math, canvas renderer, cultural symbol drawing, UI — is in one file you can inspect and own.

Contributions welcome. If you know an Adinkra symbol we missed, or a cultural motif from your tradition you'd like to see, open a pull request.
